Strategic Framework
Introduction
In about 2010, Cascade School District (CSD) went through a process in order to define its core mission under the leadership of Superintendent Steve McKenna.
In 2020, CSD built upon that core mission in order to define its values within the context of a strategic framework. Dr. Tracey Edou, Superintendent, conducted a listening tour, first in person to groups of school board members, staff, students, parents and community members. Then when the pandemic hit, the listening tour continued online. The results were used to develop a one-page framework to easily convey the identity, mission, values and strategies of the district as it moved forward. The Cascade School Board adopted the strategic framework in July 2020. That strategic framework served the district well for 5 years. The district made significant progress in many areas, including being selected as a FieldSTEM District in 2023 and a Green Ribbon School District in 2025.
During the 2025-2026 school year, Cascade School District went through the strategic planning process once again, this time with the facilitation of the leadership organization FranklinCovey. The new strategic framework was informed by the school board, staff, parents, and students. The design was created by teacher Teara St. Onge. You can find the 2026-2031 strategic framework below.
