Recent Cascade High School graduate Adilene Castaneda-Rodriguez was recognized at the July 20 School Board meeting with the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA) Student Achievement Leadership Award. Consideration for recognition was based on criteria that included demonstrating leadership; serving as a role model; demonstrating the ability to inspire, motivate, and impact the growth and development of others; exemplifying integrity in words and actions; maintaining a positive image and presence with the school land greater community; evoking hope and demonstrating initiative by seeking ways to enrich the future; and displaying a strong work ethic inside and outside the classroom.
Adilene Castaneda exemplifies what the WASA Student Leadership Award represents. She is driven, compassionate, and accomplished in leadership. As a 4.0 GPA student and one of the three Cascade High School class of 2026 Valedictorians, Adi consistently demonstrated academic excellence while pursuing rigorous College in the High School coursework through Eastern Washington University, the University of Washington, Wenatchee Valley College, and Big Bend Community College.
Beyond academics, she was a transformational student leader. As MEChA Club President and found of UNIDOS Club, Adi created and implemented initiatives that promoted inclusivity and cultural awareness within her school community. In her role as Executive ASB Co-President and Treasurer, she helped guide student voice and decision-making at the highest level of student government, involving herself in collaboration and engagement across the student body.
Adi's leadership extended into athletics and mentorship as well, where she served as a Cascade High School soccer captain and Leavenworth Soccer Club coach, modeling integrity, perseverance, and teamwork. Her influence was also evident in her service record, including 200+ hours recognized by Leavenworth Rotary.
Across all areas, academics, leadership, athletics, and service, Adi consistently demonstrated initiative, a strong work ethic, and a commitment to enriching the future of her school and her community. She leads not only through position, but through example: uplifting others, building inclusive spaces, and inspiring growth in those around her.
