After interviews, one of the Cascade High School principal finalists unexpectedly withdrew from the hiring process. Considering the disruption of the process, the overall difficult school year with the disruptions due to COVID-19, and the best interests of students and staff in the district, the Cascade High School principal hiring committee decided to stop the process for the time being. Both finalists brought a lot of strengths into the interviews and demonstrated their care for students; however, the search committee was unable to reach a consensus for recommendation at this time.

As a result, the Superintendent has appointed Rudy Joya, current Assistant Principal of Cascade High School, to be the interim principal of Cascade High School next school year. Rudy Joya has been Assistant Principal at Cascade High School since 2017. Previously, he served as a Dean of Students and math teacher at Wenatchee High School. Rudy has a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Mathematics Education from Central Washington University, a Master’s Degree in Teacher Leadership from Walden University, and a principal certificate from Washington State University.
