Cascade School District was selected to be part of Cohort 2 from the state in order to plan for an implementation of multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS) in the district. The 2022-2023 school year is a planning year at the district level. MTSS includes academic, behavioral and social-emotional systems of supports for students. The members of the district MTSS team include James Swanson (lead), Hana Getsinger, Lindsay Camp, Kelly Coulter, Jessica Bengston, Annika Bibby, Kjersti Clayton (ESD), Kim Gilreath, Dom Coffin, Emily Ross and Tracey Beckendorf-Edou, who represent various roles, perspectives, and buildings in the district.
The goals of the group are:
Identify the supports we are currently providing, identify the gaps (or where the cracks may be for students to fall through), and develop a district-wide system that ensures ALL students' needs are met.
Create a sustainable system that functions with employees exiting and entering the district.
Identify common language
And ultimately ensure: CSD – Comprehensive – Sustainable – District-Wide System
The purpose of the team is to bring a "district-wide" approach to responding to student needs and to ensure that each student has tools and knowledge needed to meet the vision and mission of CSD by creating a system, including common language & data, that meets individual needs.
