    Making A Stand

"Think about the people in your school, community or in our country who are/is struggling the most. Do something about it."

A big congrats to Maddie Gillespie and Ben Sunitsch on being named Scholar Athletes of the Month for November!

Maddie Gillespie Madeline Gillespie, Sophomore (Soccer)  Fall sports season has been a memorable one for Madeline Gillespie, as she helped lead the girl’s soccer team to a 2nd in state finish! With soccer going from August to the end of November it could make it hard to stay focused on your school work, but not for Maddie, as she was able to keep straight A’s for the first quarter. Ms. Guzman said, “She is gaining confidence daily in her proficiency of Spanish. She is hard working, diligent in completing her homework and consistently is engaged in class, asking thought-provoking questions. Her positive attitude brings high energy to the classroom and it is a total pleasure having her in class!” Coach Stefanko said, “Maddie Gillespie has been a fantastic addition to the soccer program! She exemplifies a coachable team-first player and consistently brings a smile and hard work to the field. It is obvious that Maddie is going to be successful at whatever she puts her efforts towards.  She is an honor to coach and has a beautiful spirit with an all-in Kodiak Student Athlete attitude!”

    Ben Sunitsch

Ben Sunitsch, Senior (Football)  Senior year has started out on the right track for Ben Sunitsch. The 2nd team all-league WR helped lead the Kodiaks to their first Pear Bowl victory on our home field in 20 years. Along with that, Ben has been able to keep his grades up even with taking tough classes such as AP Computer Science and Pre-Calculus. Mrs. Murphy said, “I’ve had the pleasure of having Ben in my class last year and then again this year! Ben is a rock star when it comes to Computer Science. Currently he’s in the AP class, and with his understanding of the subject, he helps others and helps cover for me when I’m gone. Ben is an all-around awesome person! #ONCEAKODIAKALWAYSAKODIAK” Coach Coffin said, “Ben was an amazing leader this year for our football team. What made Ben great was not just his amazing catches and tackles, but his willingness to give full effort at all times and his efforts to help make the team better at all costs. He will be greatly missed next year.”
