Cascade School District Seeks Input For Maintaining Current Name or Renaming John Osborn Elementary School
The Cascade School District Naming Committee is seeking your input. Osborn Elementary has served as a primary school in Leavenworth for decades. When an older school is being replaced, there is an opportunity to evaluate the name, mascot and colors of the school. The naming committee will determine public opinion on maintaining or renaming the new school and submit the information to the Board.
Something to keep in mind when considering naming of facilities: Cascade School District's Policy 6970 states that, "New district buildings, auditoriums, athletic fields, libraries, etc. shall be named after persons who have attained national or local prominence in the fields of education, arts, and sciences, politics, military achievements and statesmanship, after past U.S. presidents or Washington national senators or representatives or after the geographic characteristics of the area.
Public and elected officials, employees, board members, volunteers, citizens, or students considered for recognition in naming rooms, fields and facilities must be deceased for at least five yearrs before the person's name will be considered.
A survey has been developed to gather community input: Naming Survey This survey will be available until the end of November.
FACILITIES USE (see Department & Facilities & Grounds)
The Cascade School District is happy to allow community members to use any of the facilities (buildings or fields). Our student activities and programs have first priority for use of facilities.
If this is your first time reserving some of our facilities, please read the facilities packet which includes our school policy, procedure, pricing and the facilities use form. Save some time and look over the facility use calendar beforehand to make sure what you would like to reserve/rent is available.
