Meal Charge Procedures The primary goal of the Cascade School District is to provide nutritious meals to students to help them get through their school day. We know how hectic life can be, and we know there are times when students might lack the funds to purchase a school meal. We do allow meal charges (only for lunch) and alternate meals as outlined:
Elementary Schools (K-5) Maximum charge limit: four lunches ($9.00). Once the charge limit has been reached, an alternate meal will be provided to the student. We will notify parents by phone and ask for payment when the charge limit has been met.
Middle School (6-8) Maximum charge limit: three lunches ($7.50). Once the charge limit has been reached, an alternate meal will be provided to the student. We will notify parents by phone and ask for payment when the charge limit has been met.
High School (9-12) Maximum charge limit: one lunch ($2.50). Once the charge limit has been reached, an alternate meal will be provided to the student. We will notify parents by phone and ask for payment when the charge limit has been met.
Adult Meals (Staff & Guests) No charging allowed, no alternate meal provided.
Alternate Meals If a student has reached the meal charge limit, we will still provide an alternate meal at no charge. The alternate meal will consist of cheese stick or an apple and white 1% milk. An alternate meal is provided as a short term solution to students without money for a meal. This alternate meal will be provided daily until the student lunch account is paid in full. If parents find it difficult to pay for school meals for their student(s), Cascade School District encourages parents to apply for free/reduced meals. These applications are available on the school district website in English and Spanish.
Recovery of Funds: If your student has a negative balance on his/her lunch account, his/her report card/grades may be withheld until the account is paid in full.
